I am always looking for creative gifts for the holiday season. This is a great gift for a husband, boyfriend, or other close family member. I currently reside in Houston, Texas and stumbled upon The mad Potter in River Oaks. You can choose from over 300 different character pieces for kids, dinnerware, serving pieces, garden and interior decor. All of the paints are non-toxic and lead free and the pottery is food, oven, and dishwasher safe. The staff was extremely helpful and give lots of great ideas on color choices, stickers, and lettering if your not sure what look you want to do. I decided on a coffee mug because a) my boyfriend is obsessed with having his own mug and b) the mug was much larger than the ones you find in the store so I felt it was totally worth the money spent. The painting took me about 3 hours, and I picked the mug back up 4 days later. The final presentation looks amazing because the colors really burst with the glow and shininess of the gloss. If you live in another city than Houston, Google pottery painting places and you will be surprised how many are in your area. I lived in Chicago for 7 years and I know they have several in the Lincoln park and Buck town areas as well.
